PARTY LOUNGE
A steel-tube frame forms the basic structure carrying the cushioned seat. Part of the reclining surface can be raised. The red artificial leather (Naugahyde) is quilted. The Party Lounge stands on castors, whose mechanism locks under the weight of the sitters. The piece of furniture is movable when not in use. Folding out part of the sofa not only causes the lounge to appear larger, but also provides different seating positions for several people. Numerous sketches and studies were done for the Party Lounge. The option of transforming the couch into a bed is already indicated in the first drawings. Kiesler subsequently experiments with various upper parts and sliding mechanisms to increase the number of uses for his Party Lounge.
