The cantata „Moebius“ ZART provokes a musical experience along the “eventhorizon of time”. Specially designed sounds provide a timeless counterpart of the infinite principle of the so-called Moebius strip. Electronically generated Moebius sounds -- played forward and reversed while sounding the same -- are rated on two sound tracks. In the moment of their stereo-acoustic perception the cantata enfolds its sound potential directed both towards the future as well as towards the past.
Comparable to the two levels of the Moebius strip devoid of definitive orientation merge into one shape, as the architecture of the “Endless House” by Frederick Kiesler rests upon an affluent and limitless structure of space. Questioning the relationship of mutual determining elements is inscribed in both, in Frederick Kiesler’s as in Kurt Hofstätter’s works. Both artists are unified by their fascination for mathematical attempts to a solution and by a notion of art that far transcends the limits of their disciplines.
The first release of the cantata Moebius ZART will be performed at the Kiesler Foundation in Vienna where models of the “Endless House” and the “Grotto for Meditation” are also on display. The artist will attend the opening ceremony.
